How this page works
Where do the numbers come from?
Every figure is read from the public GitHub REST API once a day. We do not estimate or adjust anything. If GitHub does not return a value, the cell shows a dash.
What does the 7d column mean?
It is the change in GitHub stars compared with our snapshot from at least seven days earlier. A dash means we have not been tracking that project for seven days yet.
Which projects are included?
Open-source AI coding agents and the tools around them that we have written about, plus a few widely used reference projects. A project that is deleted or made private drops out automatically.
Does a high star count mean a tool is better?
No. Stars show attention, and they can be inflated by one viral post. Release frequency, recent commits and the license tell you more about whether a project is maintained and safe to build on. Read the linked post, when there is one, for context.
Commits are capped at 100. Why?
To keep the daily update fast, we count commits from the last 30 days up to 100. A "100+" means at least that many.
