Who we are

ossbeat (ossbeat.com) is an independent publication about open-source AI coding tools. You can reach us at hello@ossbeat.com or through the contact page.

What this site collects

You do not need an account to read ossbeat, and the site has no sign-up or comment forms. We do not ask you for personal information. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use it only to reply.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, in order to deliver the site and keep it secure. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages are read, which countries visitors come from, and which browsers and devices they use. According to Cloudflare, this service does not use cookies or other client-side storage and does not track you across sites. We use the aggregated numbers to improve the site.

Fonts

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser details. See Google's privacy policy.

Local storage

The cookie notice on this site remembers your choice in your browser's local storage so it does not ask again. This value stays on your device and is not sent to us. The on-site search runs in your browser and your search terms are not sent to us.

Cookies and advertising

We may show advertising through Google AdSense. If ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings or at aboutads.info. You can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we will ask for your consent through a consent tool before personalized advertising is shown. If you decline, we will not load personalized ads.

Your choices and rights

You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its use. We hold very little: mainly emails you send us. To use these rights, contact us at the address above.

Children

ossbeat is written for developers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

External links

Posts link to external sites such as GitHub and company blogs. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and show the date at the top.
